So, Saddam Hussein gets death. Not a surprise, except for the part where the verdict came two days before U.S. midterms. Wait, I guess that's not really surprising either. I smell a last minute Republican flurry of "look at the progress in Iraq." Fuckers.

You are not the only one smelling that stench! The Reptillians have scripted everything that they wanted to do since W took office. People are just now realizing that they (W & company) don't really represent them or their values, but those of the rich.
As far as Republicans go, this administration is not christian, nor conservative, so, therefore, they can only represent the rich!
As for Saddam, he is finally going to get his! However, you are correct in seeing the influence of our White House in that trial, that he is given the verdict two days before our election. Again, you can see the hands of Karl Rove all over this public display of puppetry!
Those that fall for this display are NUTS!
